چکیده

The effect of streamwise plasma vortex generators on the convective heat transfer a turbulent boundary layer is experimentally investigated. A Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma-actuator array employed to promote pairs counter-rotating, streamwise-aligned vortices embedded in well-behaved over flat plate. study aims at elucidating mechanism interaction between plasma-induced vortical structures and process downstream them. full three-dimensional mean flow field measured with planar stereoscopic PIV. assessed infrared thermography heat-flux sensor located actuators. combination measurements provides complete picture fluid-dynamic local transport effects. results show that are stationary confined across spanwise direction due action discharge. Flow-field opposing discharge causes mass- momentum-flux deficit within layer, leading low-velocity region grows which characterised by an increase displacement momentum thicknesses. This ribbon travels downstream, promoting streak-alike patterns reduction distribution. Near wall, jets divert main flow. phenomenon consequence DBD-actuator injection and, thus, suction caused surrounding fluid emerging jets. stationarity makes them persistent far reducing transfer.

Comparison of convective heat transfer of turbulent nanofluid flow through helical and conical coiled tubes

Application of nanofluid and coiled tubes are two passive methods for increasing the heat transfer. In the present study, the turbulent flows of water and nanofluid in coiled tubes heat exchanger were numerically studied. CuO-water nanofluid containing 1 vol% copper oxide nanoparticles was used and single-phase approach was considered for nanofluid flow. The effect of different geometrical para...

Transient Convective Heat Transfer

In nature, as well as within the human-made thermal systems, the time-variable regimes are more commonly encountered, if not always, than the permanent regimes. Nevertheless, studies in convection are still more frequent in the permanent regimes, undoubtedly due to the related difficulties in calculation in terms of time and cost of computation. One may distinguish two categories of time-depend...

Convective Heat Transfer PastSmall Cylindrical

Convective heat transfer from an array of small, cylindrical bodies of arbitrary shape in an unbounded, two-dimensional domain is a singular perturbation problem involving an innnite logarithmic expansion in the small parameter ", representing the order of magnitude of the size of the bodies. Using the method of matched asymptotic expansions, we formulate a hybrid asymptotic-numerical method to...

Effect of Thermal Conductivity and Emissivity of Solid Walls on Time-Dependent Turbulent Conjugate Convective-Radiative Heat Transfer

In the present study, the conjugate turbulent free convection with the thermal surface radiation in a rectangular enclosure bounded by walls with different thermophysical characteristics in the presence of a local heater is numerically studied. The effects of surface emissivity and wall materials on the air flow and the heat transfer characteristics are the main focus of the present investigati...
